Vagabond Vintage

Product Description

Vintage Old 1930s Japan Tea Shipping Box

This old box is a good example of Circa 1920s - 1930s advertising and importing in old wooden boxes. This particular box is from the Royal Club Japan Tea Brand, and was used to ship 40 inner half-pound boxes of green tea to the U.S. The importer was Griffin and Hoxie in Utica, NY. Grocers and retailers used these decorative boxes for display in the early 1900s for many brands. The inside lid with colorful depiction of Japanese women in front of Mount Fuji is nice for a display when the lid is up. There are some water stains on the paper printing glued to the inside lid, but it is still very nice. There is a very long metal hinge that is in good shape holding the lid for easy opening. tThis box has very little remaining of the paper decorations used on the outer sides of the box. The bottom is stained and scuffed and the lid is slightly warped. Dimensions: 16.75" long X 10.25" high X 6.25" deep
